We have a couple of little girls in our home who we love very much, and I love those days when they fight Mom wanting to dress themselves. Our little one Kylie (if you want a mental picture of what she looks like, I call her me little Boo. After that little girl from that Monster's Inc. kids movie. She is super cute). Anyway, Kylie comes out of her room after fighting to be a big girl and Mom has conceded; she has her bathing suit on, with big socks... Needless to say, between her and her little order sister, my wife and I often have to smile and ask, "What Are you Wearing???" Truth is, I find myself asking the same question with some of our older boys too.
Of course, we ask that because we realize they can't go out in public like that. What we are wearing tells others a lot about us. It's important to consider what we are wearing because others will interpret things about us because of it. But often unrealized and yet even more important is the fact that what we choose to wear also impacts our own lives. It not only reveals what we think of ourselves and shows what we value, but what we chose to wear can bring feelings of comfort and confidence as well as embarrassment and insecurity. In fact, in connection to being prepared and survival, what we chose to wear can even help us survive or leave us in severe pearl and in life-threatening situations. Our choices in what to wear can literally save our lives. Man! It is kind of a big but simple thing when you think about it.
When you think of it, what we wear can be so important and life-impacting. And that is why I ask you this morning... WHAT ARE YOU WEARING? Did you consciously put on the right clothes for the right season and life choices you will make today?
Galatians 3:24-26 tells us of this beautiful thing we have, but like our clothing choice every day, we seldom really realize how important it is.
It reads...
So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian. So in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith, for all who were baptized into Christ have clothed themselves with Christ."
So, you see how cool this is?!! If you have faith in Jesus Christ, Christian, you are saved and have put on Christ Jesus.
What are you wearing today? Well, the most important thing you have on is Jesus Christ. Remember that, don't forget it. Because what you are wearing will tell others about who you are. What you are wearing can say a lot about what you think of yourself and what you value. And, what you are wearing can literally save your life, and in our situation, it can literally save other's lives too... We are clothed in Christ Jesus. Let us remember this truth every morning as we get dressed and live in the joy and the impact of this incredible truth that it is today. What am I wearing? I am clothed with Christ Jesus. And He looks good on me, does the good in me, and calls and empowers me to do the good needed around me.
