Praise The Lord

Psalms 150:1-2

1.Praise the Lord.[a]

Praise God in his sanctuary; Praise him in his mighty heavens. 2. Praise him for his acts of power; Praise him for his surpassing greatness.

Let us remember that today God should be exalted on high in our lives. Not because we feel like it or because it’s an intelligent thing to do. Yes, we should feel like it. Despite what is going on in our lives, He is God. And, Yes, it is an intelligent thing to do. Because HE IS GOD. We should praise Him in His Holy Sanctuary, which is now us, who believe. We, the Church, we, who put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, are God’s holy temple. Made hole not because of what we have done or even what we do.

Let’s face it we screw up and act incredibly, unGodly often in our days. Even today, we likely have failed to truly be the temple and sanctuary that honours God and exults His name in all things at all times. We have likely failed to follow and live in step with the Holy Spirit and live Christ-like towards others in all things. We probably have been unable to consistently put Jesus Christ first in all our actions and thoughts. No, we are not made God’s sanctuary because of what we have done or not done. We are made

God’s sanctuary by the grace of God through Jesus Christ alone. That is why we should praise God’s name today. That is why we should lift up praise to him in Jesus Christ today. Because of God’s great love in sending Jesus Christ to forgive our selfish sins and our controlling “I want things my way” hearts. This is why we should praise God in Jesus Christ and exalt Him, raise Him up in praise above everything else in our lives. He is a good God, and He made this day for His purposes. And ironically enough, one of His core purposes, even though He is so above us, so beyond us, is yet, to spend this day with us in a loving relationship. Because He wants to comfort us if we are hurting. He wants to lead us if we are wondering. He wants to be close to us if we are lonely. He wants to show us He loves us even when we feel unlovable. Our God is good. And through us, He wants to show the people around us He loves them too. Let us take some time today to praise the Lord, Praise God in Jesus Christ as His sanctuary, praise Him in His mighty heavens. Praise Him for His acts of power. Praise him for his surpassing greatness and his unfathomable love, kindness and gentle presence. And after we have praised Him, let us ask if there is anything we can do for His purposes and His glory with Him in this day.

Amen.
