Our battle, our struggle, is not against flesh and blood, but how often do we instinctively fight the person, see the person or persons we are fighting as the enemy and spend our words, actions, time energy fighting them? We do this all the time. But what Paul is telling us in Ephesians 6:10-18 is that if we think the person we are struggling with is really the heart of the issue we are having, we are wrong. That person, although still responsible for their own actions and responsible for their sin and evil and selfish ways, is not the biggest problem in our struggle or battle. There is always more going on than what meets the eye. Satan and the demonic forces of evil and powers of darkness, unseen by the human eye, for the most part, are with whom the heart of our struggle and battle lies. But so often, we miss this truth. See, the point Paul is making is that if you are trying to fight and do battle with the flesh and blood person, you will never indeed win the war, for you are in part fighting the wrong way with the wrong enemy.
When we realize where the real battle is, we then need to turn to the Lord in prayer and seek His will and lean on His power for the fight rather than employing what we think is our best course of action. When we realize who the real struggle is against, we often stop shooting at and talking about the person who seems to be our enemy, and we turn to Jesus Christ and start talking to Him about what His will and way through the battle is.
I loved this video that is posted here. It is an excellent reminder to us about the battle we are in and that our Jesus is greater than all forces of darkness. Amen. I pray you give it a watch. It is totally worth a watch.
