Living As A Disciple Of Jesus On Mission For His Glory

Hey guys we are looking at this video for Thoughts From The Pastor for this week. Man, I love some of the points that this guy makes. And he is right. Living on mission is how disciples of Jesus are to live their life.

Now, what does it mean to live on a mission?

It means living life aimed to fulfill the great commission. We follow Jesus and become like Jesus as we mature in Him and in our understanding of His truth and Word. So as we mature, we become more like Him and begin to live out life like He did when he was on earth. And what did He chiefly do? He lived out the love of the Father and talked about the coming Kingdom of God. We today, who grow in maturity in Jesus, as followers of Jesus, as disciples of Jesus, should begin more and more to live out the Love of Jesus and share with others about the coming Kingdom of God and its King who is Jesus Christ our Saviour. And why is He our Saviour, this King Jesus? Because through belief in Him and what He has done, we are saved from and forgiven for our sins and become members of God's family. And as God's family, we inherit a place in this coming Kingdom of God.

So, how should we live our lives as the family of God and followers of Jesus, our Saviour and Lord? Well, because Jesus is God and Lord, we should be engaged in the things He calls us to. No, not so we can earn our salvation. No, Jesus has done that for us, and all we need to do is believe and trust in Him to receive that gift. No, we serve and engage in what He has asked us because of what He has done for us and because He loves us. Also, we engage in what He calls us to because Jesus fills our hearts and minds more and more with His truth and love. As we are filled more and more with Jesus and His truth and love, we can't help but be compelled to love on others and share that same incredible love and truth with them. This is what discipleship is about and what living on mission means.
