It's Christmas time, and I love it. It is an amazing time for us who believe in Jesus Christ to take about His birth and why His coming is such an incredible gift from God. Yet even as I say "Merry Christmas" to the people I meet in my day, there is this thought about if I should even say Merry Christmas. I have been so programmed to make sure you don't cause offence that I sometimes have to fight myself a little to say, Merry Christmas. That's crazy. What am I scared of? Yes, I don't want to offend anyone, but Christmas is one of the biggest Gospel messages... gospel meaning good news... so Christmas and the story of Christmas, Jesus' birth is one of the planet's greatest good news stories of all time. Right!! I don't want to cause offence but let's be honest, the Word of God teaches that if people don't turn from their sinful ways and turn to Jesus and call on His name for their salvation, they will be way more than offended when their life is over and they stand before Jesus.
Christmas is about Jesus Christ, and it is about God's love for the world. Christmas is totally about John 3:16-17, For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Guys, this is Christmas. Let us say Merry Christmas, and let us tell and talk about the Christmas story this season. In fact, let the Christmas story and the reason for it be at the center of our thinking, our sharing, our visiting and our greetings.
Christmas is about Jesus, and the good news that God has promised that those who call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. Merry Christmas! May God meet with you this Christmas season in heart and mind.
